If you are looking at a chin implant in Turkey, you probably want three answers: what it costs, how long you need to stay, and what to ask before you pay a deposit. This guide covers what independent sources say on each, and marks clearly where no reliable figure exists, so that you know which numbers have to come from the clinic itself.
Key takeaways
- There is no neutral public price list for chin implants in Turkey. The one sourced benchmark is a partial US price: an ASPS average of $3,641 that excludes anesthesia and facility fees.
- The NHS advises against flying for 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic procedures; your surgeon sets your own date.
- A 2025 review found high satisfaction after chin implants, with infection reported in up to 23.8% of patients in the included studies.
- Quotes are easier to compare when they are itemized in writing and name the implant material, the incision, the follow-up plan and what happens if the implant must come out.
What is a chin implant?
A chin implant is a solid implant placed over the chin bone to add projection. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) describes chin surgery as reshaping the chin either with an implant or by working on the bone, and notes that an implant can be placed through an incision inside the mouth. The other main route is a bone operation called genioplasty, covered in our separate guide to sliding genioplasty in Turkey. The two are different operations with different recovery and risk profiles, and your surgeon will explain which applies to you.
A 2025 systematic review by Kauke-Navarro and colleagues lists the implant materials used in the studies it included: Medpor, silicone, Proplast and PEEK. Materials differ in how they are shaped, fixed and removed, so the material is worth naming in your written quote.
For a broader comparison that also covers fillers and fat grafts, see our guide to chin augmentation options.
How much does a chin implant cost in Turkey?
I could not find an independent, public price list for chin implants in Turkey. Clinic and agency price pages are sales material, so this guide does not quote them. The figure that matters is the itemized quote you receive in writing.
One sourced reference point comes from outside Turkey. The ASPS gives an average cost of $3,641 for chin augmentation, based on its latest statistics, without stating the year. It is a partial price: the same page says this average does not include anesthesia, operating room facilities or other related expenses. A surgeon’s fee alone and an all-in travel package measure different things, so a direct comparison would mislead you.
The ASPS also notes that most health insurance plans do not cover chin surgery or its complications. Assume the same for a trip abroad unless your insurer confirms otherwise in writing.
What goes into the total trip budget?
The surgery package is only one line. A realistic budget includes:
- The surgery package: surgeon, facility, anesthesia, implant, and any hospital night, depending on what the quote includes.
- Flights: a return ticket for you, and for a companion if one travels with you.
- Accommodation: enough nights to cover the time before you are cleared to fly (see below), plus any extra nights.
- A companion: their flight, meals and possibly a separate room.
- Local transport: airport and clinic transfers, if the package leaves them out.
- Medication and supplies: anything a quote does not include.
- Travel insurance: and a clear answer on what it does not cover.
- A buffer: for a rebooked flight or extra nights.
Our rhinoplasty cost guide shows how to build these lines into a worked budget, and the same method works for a chin implant.
How long should you stay in Turkey?
There is no single figure for chin implants specifically. The NHS advises not flying for 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic procedures, and notes that air travel and major surgery both raise the risk of a blood clot. The page says it was last reviewed in December 2022. Your surgeon sets your own date, so ask for it before you book flights.
On recovery, the ASPS says an elastic bandage or compression garment may be used to support the chin and reduce swelling, that healing continues for several weeks as swelling decreases, and that an implant placed through the mouth may mean a liquid diet or special mouth rinses for a time. It does not give a day count, and neither will this guide. Ask the clinic how many follow-up visits it plans before you leave, and on which days.
What are the risks of a chin implant?
The ASPS safety page lists, among others, anesthesia risks, bleeding, infection, asymmetry, numbness or other changes in skin sensation, poor wound healing, and the possible need for revision. Two risks on the list are specific to implants: the implant shifting out of place, and thick scar tissue forming around it (capsular contracture).
The Kauke-Navarro review included seven single-center studies with 1,126 patients, 386 of whom had implants. Patient satisfaction was high in both the implant and the genioplasty groups. Implants were associated with higher infection rates, up to 23.8% in the included studies, and with wound edge breakdown. The authors report that soft tissue followed about 66% of an implant’s projection, against 85% for bone movement. These are ranges from a small number of studies, not a prediction for you, and the authors conclude that both procedures work, with distinct strengths and risks.
If you develop a problem after you fly home, who treats it matters. The NHS says travel insurance does not normally cover things going wrong in surgery, and that overseas clinics may not provide follow-up, or may not provide it to the same standard as in the UK.
What should you ask before you pay?
Ask for an itemized written quote, and check each line:
- The name of the surgeon who will operate, and their specialty
- The implant material, size and brand, and whether a record of the implant is given to you
- Whether the incision is inside the mouth or under the chin
- How the planned result will look from the front, not only in profile
- Anesthesia type and who gives it
- Number of nights in a hospital or clinic, if any
- Follow-up visits in Turkey, with dates
- What the clinic offers by photo or video review after you leave
- What happens, and what you pay, if the implant shifts, becomes infected or has to be removed
- Hotel nights, transfers, and interpreter, if included
- Deposit, refund and cancellation terms, and the currency of the quote
What does Turkish regulation say you can ask for?
Türkiye’s regulation on international health tourism was published in the Official Gazette on 26 April 2025 (No. 32882). I read the Turkish text. Under it, facilities and intermediaries working with international patients need an authorization certificate (Article 5). For surgery in an operating room, the facility must hold complication insurance (Article 6), with a compliance deadline of 31 December 2025 in the transitional article. A facility must give an itemized breakdown with unit prices alongside the receipt or invoice, and on request, free of charge, a list of drugs and supplies used and charged (Article 12). That list is one way to get the implant details in writing.
This is a summary, not legal advice, and I did not check how closely individual providers follow it. Our rhinoplasty cost guide explains how to check a provider’s authorization on official lists.
