A lip lift shortens the skin between the base of the nose and the upper lip, so more of the pink part of the lip shows. If you are considering having it done in Turkey, this guide covers what to budget, how long to stay, and the questions to ask before you pay anything. Whether the procedure suits your face is a question for a surgeon who examines you.
Key takeaways
- There is no neutral public price list for a lip lift in Turkey; itemized written quotes in a stated currency are what make offers comparable.
- Two dates set the stay: stitch removal (day 5 to 7 in a 2026 review) and flying home (7 to 10 days after facial procedures, per the NHS). Your surgeon sets both.
- A surgical lip lift is permanent and leaves a scar under the nose; photos of healed scars say more than results from the first week.
- Turkey's Ministry of Health publishes a list of authorized facilities, and the 2025 regulation requires complication insurance for operating-room procedures.
What is a lip lift, and how is it different from filler?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) describes a lip lift as removing skin between the edge of the top lip and the bottom of the nose. Its 2024 article says the incisions are often hidden along the natural folds under the nose and that the result is permanent, so it suggests asking yourself whether you would be comfortable living with it, or open to a revision later.
The classic version is the subnasal “bullhorn” lift, named after the shape of the skin removed. A 2026 systematic review of seven studies with 1,754 patients found that complications were mostly mild and temporary, with revision rates between 0.6% and 6.7% in the four studies that reported them. The authors rated the overall study quality as moderate, so these numbers describe published series, not what any one clinic will achieve.
You may also come across two other terms:
- Corner lip lift. This lifts the corners of the mouth. ASPS warns that it can leave visible scars. In the 2026 review, the only series that put a number on thickened (hypertrophic) scars was a corner lift series, at 4.6%.
- “Scarless” lip lift. Every surgical technique described above removes skin and closes the wound with stitches, which leaves a scar, even if it sits in a natural fold. Non-surgical “lifts” are temporary. If an offer says scarless, ask exactly what is being done.
Filler adds volume instead of shortening the lip, and it wears off. Our guide to lip filler in Turkey covers that route.
How much does a lip lift in Turkey cost?
I could not find a neutral, public price source for a lip lift in Turkey, so this guide gives no price figure. What you can control is the structure of the budget.
| Budget line | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Surgery package | Surgeon’s fee, facility, anesthesia, the stitch-removal visit and any follow-up visits |
| Flights | Return date that matches your flying clearance, and the cost of changing it |
| Hotel nights | Enough nights to cover stitch removal and clearance, plus a spare night or two |
| Meals and local transport | Airport and clinic transfers, if the package leaves them out |
| Companion | Their flight, meals and room |
| Items outside the package | Medication, dressings and any scar products you are told to buy |
| Insurance | What your travel policy excludes (see below) |
| Follow-up after you go home | Photo or video reviews, and what a return visit would cost |
| Buffer | Extra nights and rebooked flights if healing takes longer |
The same line-by-line method, with worked examples by departure region, is in our rhinoplasty cost guide. Flights, hotels and meals work the same way for a lip lift; only the package and the number of nights change.
Ask which currency a quote is in and whether the price is fixed if exchange rates move before you pay. Turkish regulation also gives you a documented right to detail: under Article 12 of the 2025 health tourism regulation, a facility must attach a breakdown of the services provided, with unit prices, to the receipt or invoice.
How long should you stay in Turkey for a lip lift?
There is no fixed number, but two dates decide it.
- Stitch removal. The authors of the 2026 review recommend removing the skin stitches between day 5 and day 7 to reduce track marks. They also note that post-operative protocols were poorly reported in the studies, so your surgeon’s own plan is what counts. Ask whether your stitches will be removed in Turkey or at home, and if at home, by whom.
- Flying home. The NHS advises waiting 7 to 10 days before flying after facial cosmetic procedures. That is general advice for facial surgery, not a lip lift rule, so ask your surgeon when they would clear you to fly.
If an offer states a stay length, compare it against these two dates rather than taking it as given. Our lip lift recovery timeline walks through what happens in each stage of that stay.
If you plan to combine a lip lift with rhinoplasty, the stay and recovery change, and so does the quote. Our guide to procedures that can be combined with rhinoplasty covers the trade-offs to raise with a surgeon.
What should you ask before paying a deposit?
Ask for the answers in writing:
- Who will operate, what is their specialty, and how many lip lifts have they done?
- Which technique do they propose (bullhorn, deep-plane, corner), and exactly where will the scar sit?
- Can you see photos of healed scars months after surgery, not only results from the first week?
- Will the procedure be done in an operating room? What kind of anesthesia is planned?
- Does the facility hold complication insurance for your procedure, and what does it cover?
- On which day will the stitches come out, and when will they clear you to fly?
- If the scar thickens, the lip heals unevenly or the nostrils look different, what is the revision policy, what does it cost, and who pays for travel?
- How will follow-up work after you go home: photos, video calls, a named contact?
- Are aftercare instructions available in a language you understand? The NHS lists a shared language with your surgeon among the things to check.
- What are the deposit, refund and cancellation terms?
Scars deserve the most attention. A 2025 study analyzed 25 publicly posted negative reviews of lip lifts and found scar-related concerns in 15 of them (60%), followed by changes to the nostrils or nasal base (6) and lip asymmetry (5). Because the authors chose dissatisfied reviews on purpose, this cannot tell you how often problems happen. It does show what unhappy patients most often regret not asking about.
How do you check a clinic in Turkey?
Türkiye’s regulation on international health tourism was published in the Official Gazette on 26 April 2025. I read the Turkish text. In summary:
- Facilities and intermediary companies need an international health tourism authorization certificate (Article 5).
- For surgical and interventional procedures done in an operating room under international health tourism, the facility must take out complication insurance (Article 6). Facilities had until 31 December 2025 to comply.
- A facility must give an itemized breakdown with unit prices, and on request, free of charge, a list of the drugs and supplies used and charged (Article 12).
This is a summary of the text, not legal advice, and I did not check how individual providers follow it. You can look up facilities on the Ministry of Health’s page of authorized healthcare providers, which links to lists of authorized hospitals, medical centers and private practices. Match the legal name on your contract to the list.
Your own insurance matters too. The NHS says travel insurance “does not normally cover if things go wrong in surgery,” so read the exclusions before relying on a policy. And before you trust a surgeon’s feed, read our guide to the influencer trap in aesthetic surgery, which explains how to check credentials through official registers.
